Morning Workshop: "Diversity Intelligence: Inspiring By Including"
8:30 am - 12:00 pm ⋅ 3.5 PDUs - Leadership

Workshop Background
Todays’ team leaders feel constant pressure to innovate and position their products, services, teams and themselves more creatively than ever before. However, in our highly diverse workplaces, cultural and diversity intelligence are critical to success. Diversity extends beyond race or ethnicity, religion, culture or newcomer status to include factors such as geography, language, politics, gender, beliefs, economic status, abilities, skills and interests. A diverse workplace reflects our communities. By aligning diversity intelligence with leadership values, strategies and communication practices to ensure a truly collaborative, inclusive and engaging work culture environment, we can inspire our high-performance teams to thrive at work.

This workshop helps leaders use diversity intelligence to manage team relationships and move their team engagement levels to drive performance. People from different backgrounds, cultures, countries, sexes, ages have different approaches to communication, motivation and idea creation – by expanding your awareness of diversity, you can create as much opportunity for people to feel empowered and watch innovation thrive as much as your team.

Learning objectives
This workshop will enable participants to understand how diversity intelligence can be used create a culture where people and performance thrive, driving innovation. More specifically, it will enable participants to use enhanced diversity awareness for:

• Improving team and project success
• Decreasing conflicts
• Fostering innovation and problem-solving skills
• Improving leadership skills

2. Discussing the complexity of a diverse team environment
3. Outlining the impacts of diversity on team engagement.

Afternoon Workshop: "Fierce Conversations – How to Strategically Manage Conflicts in Your Projects"
1:00 pm - 4:30 pm ⋅ 3.5 PDUs - Leadership

Workshop Background
Conflict happens. It is inevitable. It is going to happen whenever you have people with different expectations or views. If ignored or handled badly, conflict can devastate a project, team or organization like a wildfire. If handled early and effectively, relationships and workplace culture will be enriched. Innovation and project team engagement improves. This makes conflict management critical – it takes skill to effectively avoid arguments, clarify misunderstandings, deal with disputes, and repair relationships. Simply put - conflicts require fierce conversations.

Conflict can be avoided if steps are taken early in a discussion to diffuse anger and facilitate communication. Furthermore, by applying a series of thoughtful steps and tools, most conflicts can be resolved effectively. Critical to success is learning how to engage early, using skills to resolve the conflict and avoid escalation.

This workshop helps PMs ad BAs use fierce conversations to take the initiative to confront the problem. Critical to conflict management, participants will develop strategies for changing the context of conflicts from negative to positive, from disrespectful to appropriate. Participants will learn how to turn a disagreement into an opportunity to provoke learning and enrich relationships. Lastly, the workshop will cover how to create lasting solutions to conflict and tips for sticking to them.

Learning objectives
· Enabling participants to understand how to effectively reduce and manage conflicts.
· Illustrating that conflicts are normal and can be used to create better solutions to problems if they are handled well.
· Enhancing their conflict management skills and awareness.
