02/16/2010 - February Program Meeting

Speaker: Sue Shoemaker, a trainer at Emergent
Topic: Unlocking the key to Team Motivation
Description:

Sue Shoemaker

Adult training has been a theme throughout Sue’s professional career.  While serving as the Senior Director of Donor Services for the Great Lakes Region of the American Red Cross, Sue was also an adjunct professor for Lansing Community College teaching business communications.  Her oversight responsibilities at the Red Cross - which included a team of 175 staff located in six Michigan cities - provided valuable first-hand experience that benefitted her work in the classroom. Sue was one of six American Red Cross employees across the United States selected as a visiting corporate trainer.  For two weeks each year Sue would conduct management training programs to Red Cross personnel in the United States, Europe and Japan. Sue also taught business writing and public speaking at Davenport University.  She decided to make adult training her full time focus and accepted the position of senior training specialist for Emergent BioSolutions in 2004.  Sue offers a wide variety of courses needed for effective teamwork and personal excellence.  She is particularly intrigued by team dynamics, situational leadership and emotional intelligence research. Sue holds a masters degree in education administration from Central Michigan University.  She has been an active member of Toastmasters International and the American Society for Training and Development.  She resides in Roscommon, Michigan with her husband.
